Facebook Group Solves Major World Issue
Earlier today at approximately 11:30am, a major world issue abruptly came to a halt, when a Facebook group dedicated to the cause gained its one-millionth member.
“We showed solidarity by getting one million people to pledge their support for the cause,” said group founder Duane Finkle. “And they didn’t even have to donate money!”
Group member Jessica Prozayk added, “If only we could get more people to join Internet groups that support really super important causes, we might have a better world for our children.”
The news stunned scholars, most of whom had spent years investing real time, real money and real effort to fix the issue.
One researcher is quoted as saying, “It looks like we didn’t need the funding and governmental restructuring that we had been calling for from the beginning.” He concluded, “In the end, we just needed one-million people to click a button on their computers.”
More as it breaks.

that just speaks to the amazing amount of trendy activism that plagues our school
Happy ThanksTakings!
agreed. though would we rather nobody care about anything?
the conundrum. leave it with the facebook groups, and do we lose actual activism because we feel like we’re doing enough?!!
I have a Facebook group for a new org called Global India Fund.
We were on a tight deadline to complete a video, but came up short on images.
Reaching out through Facebook, we got professional quality photos royalty free, and overnight (literally).
We probably could have found those photos otherwise, but not as fast without Facebook.
So, I guess my point is that it can be a pretty useful tool for those involved is causes and organizations - but I agree the whole thing is a little overblown at the moment.

I wouldn’t limit that to Facebook groups. Clueless celebrities hopping the latest fad cause they know nothing about are pretty bad themselves.
