Colonialist End of the Year Celebration

Hey!  Hi!  Hello!  Oh, hello!  Hi!  Hello!  Hi! Hi!

Soooooooo we’re having an end of the year celebration!  We will be hosting a fundraiser rough-cut screening of the beast.Films short film, “On Parole.”  All proceeds will go to beast.Films to help support “On Parole” in its journey to a final cut, and then film festivals around the universe!

The event will be Friday, May 9th in the Betts Theater.  I know, many of you will be gone by then.  Some of you will not.  Either way, we wanted to see what our readers would like to see most at this event.  Of course we will screen the rough cut of “On Parole.”  This is about a 30 minute short film.  We can devote the rest of the night to anything we want!  Some ideas would include but would not be limited to:

That’s all I’ve got for now.  Let’s brainstorm!  We’ve got a theater, and we’ve got time to kill.  And don’t worry; just because we’re asking for input doesn’t mean we’re dumping responsibility on you.  WE DON’T NEED YOU!  YOU HEAR ME!?  WE DON’T NEED YOU, YOU ASSHOLES!  YOU’RE NOTHING!

Thank you so much for all of your support!

Can we have a huge water gun fight?

Northface backpacks and a laser light show? Oh wait, we already have one of those at GW. My bad.

Does the “on” in “on parole” refer to a character in the film who is actually on parole, as in “Jimmy is on parole”, or is it meant to indicate that the film is someort of philosophical meditation on the existential state one finds oneself in when one is on parole, as a sort of critical treatment of the subject as a whole (in the vein of JS Mill’s “On Liberty”)?

Mightn’t it be a third, Max?
Mightn’t it be both?

supine positions.

Forgive me kirk, I just find it unapetizingly vague, like a BLT wherein the bacon just doesn’t seem to be there. You can’t taste it. Where is it? What did you pay for anyways? An LT? Who pays for that?

Then again, perhaps the title is supposed to highlight the vagueness of the phrase, an intentional display of negative art designed to create reactions like this, which reveal subjective nature of language, and so of life. Bold indeed. (this is all bullshit)

What isn’t bullshit?

I’ve always found the BLT with no lettuce or tomato to be decidedly more disconcerting.

Heuristical transvalency is what we’re up to.

So does anyone have any actual suggestions or ideas? If not, that’s totally cool, we can put an event together without help, but we thought it’d be cool if you guys could participate somehow.

Regarding, but not specifically in response to your question, Max, one of things we’ll talk about at the event, at least something I’d like to do anyway, is talk a possible name for the short after people have seen it (suggestion box maybe). But thanks for asking. The answer to your questions regarding the current title are too long for blog comments, but maybe you’d like to talk about it in person? Or telegram? Do they have email in England? I’m actually surprised you’re able to check the website from your location, I thought all information was carried by horseback. That’s not true. I didn’t and don’t think that. I’m sorry.

Shit. I forgot to replace my alias with my name in the name box.

Cake walk (I will make cake if you need)
Or really anything with food. Food is a good way to make money and fatties - my two favorite things.
Sand Art.
Stand-up (duh, funny is always good)
Kum-ba-yah circle of love and warm fuzzy feelings.
Rock Band.
Throwing marshmallows and/or peanut M&Ms into each others’ faces (I guess that counts as food as well… but as I said before food is good).
Going over to Michael A. Keough’s house and watching THAT dvd.

Hey Colonialist,

I second coming over and watching that DVD for the end of year party…I can get some Smirnoff Ice and we can have a good time…
