Hot Gossip from the BLOGOSPHERE
We’ve been holding off on Hatchet bashing recently since GWBlogspot has decided to shoot multiple times in the dark with their re/ce/nt cr/it/ic/ism. (Seriously guys. We love you, but relax. You’re mad that they made a story about sex not offensive enough. Don’t become a parody of yourself.)
However, it came to our attention today that a very juicy story over at the GW Patriot might be a little more than rumor. After being nudged in the direction by a reliable source, it seems like the post “Is the Hatchet sitting on a story?” holds water. While we don’t want to ruin lives, it is curious that the Hatchet might be holding onto a story about a high profile *former* SA member getting arrested. If I remember correctly, plain ol’ rumors about two past SA Presidents made it to the front page, yet even with eye witnesses and photographic proof of this altercation, there is no story. Interesting.
We don’t want to steal the Patriot’s scoop, so head over there to read the article. But when you’re done, come back over here and leave an anonymous comment about what really happened.
We’re interested.

Why would releasing this story be bad for the Hatchet? Just cause Phi Psi looks good one day and then makes a fool of itself the next, how does that reflect poorly on the Hatchet?
Is Casey Pond still part of the SA? If he isn’t, then there shouldn’t be a story because then he’s just a regular guy. I don’t need to see pictures of the poor guy sobbing getting arrested. Unless he is in the SA. Then I most definitely need those pictures.
It’s not unusual for newspapers to wait a while to get a story. I would call it reporting a story, not sitting on it. Since papers can be sued for libel, it behooves publications to be as absolutely thorough as possible on something as controversial as this, especially when the subject has deep pockets and can afford to pursue litigation. It’s not cowardly, it’s just protecting all the bases to make sure the paper doesn’t get sued, does not print false information about someone, and most important gets accurate information out.
That being said, Casey used to work for the Hatchet.
anonymous, you’re missing the point.
The “reporting” is unnecessary, unless Casey is commissioning a biography.
IT’S NOT NEWSWORTHY

We just have to wait until tomorrow.
