The Second Floor of Gelman

Leaving the library just now, I realized that I’ve never been on the second floor of Gelman.  This is my fourth year here, I do the majority of my studying in Gelman, and I’ve never set foot on the second floor.

Here is a list of what I imagine might be there:

Okay, it’s probably just the last one.

I’ve worked at Gelman for the Consortium Loan Service since September of freshman year. I’m now a senior. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been on the second floor.

The reality of the floor is pretty boring. Basically, it’s just Gelman’s office space–a place for librarians and other such-like types to work if they don’t need to be open to the public (or in the stacks) to do their job. It’s very quiet, and occasionally they have free food for library staff members. Like me. Not you. My food.

The Gelman staff elevator, on the other hand…

I was leaving the library a few days ago via the staircase and realized I needed to use the bathroom. I got off on the second floor. There was a conference room with a layout of Mexican Food. I went to use the bathroom and got dirty looks from staff members. Kind of like “These bathrooms aren’t for you…”
