I’m Inside DJ’s Fastbreak Right Now!

It’s been almost two years, but I am writing this from inside my old standard, DJ’s Fastbreak on 22nd and G.  Vishal has transformed the building from health-code violation USA into a free, open, relaxed study area.  I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who has actually used the building thus far (it opened for the first time at 8am this morning), but I’m sure in a week a seat will be hard to come by.

The chairs are comfortable, there is an unbelievable excess of electrical outlets and The Great Pumpkin is playing (muted) on an LCD screen on the wall.  For the first time in a very long time, a choice was made to create something for the sole purpose of improving student life and leisure at GW.  That deserves a great big THANK YOU. The hours are even great:

Monday-Friday: 8am-2am

Saturday-Sunday: 11am-2am

It seems like a name hasn’t been officially chosen for this student space since the window reads “Colonial Clubhouse Now Open” and the sign on the door reads “Welcome to 2145 G Street.” [KIRK EDIT: How inconsistent!] I’d like to propose we all adapt a name that our student body finds more fitting.  My initial idea was “The Bitch” (’Hey man, let’s go study at The Bitch’) but I think I’m going to refer to my new study spot as “Pheonix” (’Hey man, I’m in Pheonix, it’s kinda crowded but you should come.  It’s really great in Pheonix.’) [KIRK EDIT: What is a Pheonix?][TRAVIS RE-EDIT: SPELLING IS HARD]

I suggest you all check it out.  I’m sure it will be a CVS in two months, but for now GW has done something really great for the students.

There is also free candy.

yeaaaaaaah lick it. lick that chocolate. lick. lick it. liiiiiiiiiiick. lick it. lick it. lick.

I have no idea what that means.

just keep reading it.

out loud. loudly out loud.

what kind of candy is it???

kirk, a pheonix is what someone does when they get buried in fire.

isn’t that a phoenix?

hm. good point.
a pheonix must be what travis will do if you bury him in fire, while a phoenix is what other people will do if you bury them in fire. Their similar, but the latter involves less blogging.

yes. their.

I’m referring to Phoenix, Arizonia. I spelled it incorrectly.

I did not write that comment!

I’m still sad that we lost DJ’s Fastbreak. Then again, judging from the reaction of other students I must be the only student with the emotion.
