So, we’re using it.
Remember in our post, “Manifest Destiny,” we spoke about creating events in DC? Well, we did. And now we’re doing it. Our event platform will be called “The Colonialist HAS A BUS” because we have a bus, and now we can all go places.
To celebrate our 1st Birthday (!) we’ve created our first Colonialist event in DC. We’ve set up transportation, reserved tables, gotten deals, and booked an awesome band. It’s gonna be 21+, and 30 bucks for the whole night. Here’s the details:
Come celebrate our one year Birthday on Friday, October 24th!
Join the group as we get picked up by bus and taken to the new BUSBOYS AND POETS Northeast location where we have tables reserved*, then over to THE RED AND THE BLACK BAR where we’ve arranged for you to pay NO COVER and get 2 DRINKS FREE. The band LIONIZE will play a concert for us!
EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED FOR $30 AND TRANSPORTATION WILL BE INCLUDED ALL NIGHT TO AND FROM EACH PLACE!

1:30 - Dropped off at GW

Ok so, taking into account what you would spend on cab fare, the two drinks, and cover, this is actually a deal. The total mileage covered (GW-Busboys-Red & Black-GW) is 8.7 miles. Without factoring in wait time in traffic and including a 10% tip, you’d be paying about $17.35 for cabs. Since you get two drinks for free on a Friday, let’s say a draft beer is $4.00 plus the dollar tip on each beer for $10.00. Add in the waved cover charge of $8.00, and you’re at $35.35.
Also, you get to ride in a bus with all of your drunk friends. Also (you can’t really factor this in in terms of a concrete cost) we booked Lionize specially for this event. And they’re really awesome. Also, we’ve been around for a year now, and you can’t put a price on celebrating that. For serious.
Also, you would in fact need to take cabs. These places are a pain in the ass to get to by walking and metro-ing.
You mean we get to hang out with people off the internet? I CAN’T WAIT!
